Electrical overload caused Tigatoo fire: BFP XI

A FIRE broke out in Tinago Juliville, Barangay Tigatto, on Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2025, resulting in significant damage to residential properties.

The Buhangin Fire Station received a report of the blaze at approximately 2:50 p.m., prompting an immediate 1st alarm response. Firefighters arrived at the scene located on Sto. Niño Street, Barangay Buhangin, to combat the fire.

According to initial reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire originated in a two-story house and was attributed to an electrical overload caused by a “flying connection” (an informal and often hazardous electrical wiring method).

The fire then spread, causing total damage to the two-story residence and partial damage to a nearby three-story apartment building.

No fatalities or injuries were reported as a result of the incident. However, the fire has significantly impacted seven families, leaving them displaced.

Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze at around 3:42 p.m. The estimated cost of the damages is placed at P270,000.

Authorities are reminding residents to ensure that all electrical connections are properly installed and maintained by qualified electricians to prevent similar incidents.

The BFP is expected to conduct further investigation into the specifics of the electrical system in the affected house.
