Authorities suspected a sexagenarian to have placed the threat letter in front of the City Hall.
But the 62-year-old woman denied the claim.
Based on the CCTV footage, an elderly woman, later identified as Luisa Manlangit Datio, was seen to have placed the plastic bag containing the tattered national flag and the letter beside the cement bench in front of City Hall at around 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday.
Sr. Insp. Maria Theresita Gaspan, the spokesperson of Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said operatives went to the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) to review the footage of CCTV installed at San Pedro Square on July 11 from 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.
Datio, according to the DCPO report, admitted that she was the one who was caught on the CCTV footages. However, she denied that she was the one who left the items in question.
For now, Gaspan said they are investigating the background of Dation, a resident of Purok 9, Brgy 76-A Bucana.
A social media post on the reported threat became viral Wednesday.
But authorities have downplayed the threat, insisting that there is no such terror group in the city.
Based on the report posted on Facebook page of Davao City’s streetwatch/Police/Fire/Rescue/Dial#911CDDCPO#09258223276, a threat letter and a shredded Philippine flag were found in enclosed in a bag placed in front of the City Hall.
A street sweeper cleaning the Quezon Park found the bag at 5:30 a.m.
The sender of the letter, addressed to President Duterte and daughter Mayor Sara, has claimed they will crush the country just like they crushed the flag, with Davao as the site of an upcoming war.
The sender claimed to be ISIS-NPA.
The recovered items were turned over to San Pedro Police Precinct.
