THE EASTERN Mindanao Command (EastMinCom), in coordination with the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM), launched the Maritime Inter-Agency Exercise 2025-01 (MIAEX 2025-01) on Wednesday, May 28, at Naval Station Felix Apolinario in Panacan, Davao City.
Lt Col Salvacion Evangelista, the spokesperson of EastMinCom, said the multi-agency maritime exercise brings together various units from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and key maritime stakeholders.
The primary objective is to foster unified efforts to address emerging maritime security threats across Eastern Mindanao.
MIAEX 2025-01 is specifically designed to strengthen coordination, enhance interoperability, and foster a cohesive response framework among all participating agencies in the region.
Evangelista said the exercise simulates a maritime crisis scenario, aiming to significantly improve strategic decision-making, inter-agency collaboration, and overall operational cohesion among the various forces.
The exercise will culminate with a capability demonstration on May 29 along the shorelines of Barangay Don Aurelio Chicote, Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.
Moreover, this activity is expected to showcase the preparedness, responsiveness, and collective capability of the participating forces in safeguarding peace and maritime security within the Eastern Mindanao area.
