SIXTY-FOUR of the 120 teams will compete in an Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) tournament for a chance to become the first Duaw ng Davao inter-barangay champion at the Davao City Recreational Center on June 30.

The tournament follows a single elimination format which helps add intensity and excitement to the event, which dangles P150,000 as the prize pool for the winners, on top of trophies and medals.

The event is only exclusive to the esports athletes competing in the games.

When asked about the winners on potentially playing nationally or internationally, esports consultant Krizzy Daugdaug said during the June 27 iSpeak forum “I think open po yung Davao City Sports Development for the possibility of that as long as matabangan natog enhance ug support atong mga esports athletes.”

She also stated that they decided to have this tournament as an inter-barangay tournament to showcase the grassroots of the esports athletes in Davao, potentially leading them to compete in other tournaments as long as the city has a budget to support the athletes.

There are now initial talks wherein the Champion of Duaw ng Davao MLBB tournament will go on and represent Davao against seven other teams in Mindanao in the Kadayawan Batak Esports League happening in August. The winning teams can compete at the national level for the MLBB Development League.

“We already have initial talks with the MLBB Development League (MDL) that whoever will win or the top two teams for the Kadayawan will have a spot at the national level in the MDL. Matagaan silag chance to compete nationwide” Daugdaug stated.
