DSWD XI monitors psychosocial treatment providers

THE DEPARTMENT of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) XI is strictly monitoring camp managers and other providers addressing the psychosocial concerns of families affected by the recent Masara, Davao de Oro landslide incident.

DSWD XI director Vanessa Goc-ong

During the Kapihan forum, Atty. Vanesa Goc-ong, DSWD XI regional director, revealed receiving reports about organizations posing as experts in psychosocial intervention.

Atoang gipaigting ang atoang pagmonitor over the camp managers to really thresh out (those organizations) because usahay man gud they hide beyond it. Ginabantayan na nato ilabi na’g makita namo nga lahi na ang agenda,” Goc-ong said.

Goc-ong said they continuously review the mode of screening, especially faith-based organizations providing value formation among children.

She said camp managers conduct various activities for children such as focus group discussions, educational, and therapeutic activities.

“With respect sa mga bata, we ensure that there are activities that are therapeutic and educational. Ang temporary nila nga ginapuy-an as an evacuation center will not be a very different environment as compared to their school and sa ilang panimalay,” she said.

She stressed that Masara victim survivors were currently undergoing extensive treatment, which other hospitals also assist.
