Double murder case

  • Police to file case vs six individuals in Predas-Chavez slay

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) will file a double murder charge against six persons of interest in the brutal killing of a couple in a Buhangin condominium last April 20.

DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon confirmed the case will be filed in court by July 31st.

The identities of the six persons of interest (POIs) were revealed through witness testimonies, Tuazon added.

“We have not abandoned this case. We’ve conducted extensive case conferences with DCPO personnel, investigators, and other involved law enforcement units,” Tuazon assured the public.

Victims Jeffrey Predas and Jennifer Chavez were found dead on April 21st inside a condominium in Bajada.

Predas was dropped from the upper floor after he was stabbed nine times. Chavez was later discovered with multiple cuts inside their condo unit.

The individuals remain at large as of this writing.

Initial investigation suggested that the couple, who flew in from Manila to attend a concert, were killed in a possible crime of passion. However, the lack of functional CCTV inside the condominium hampered the investigation.

DCPO investigators relied on testimonies from residents to identify the suspects. The department will also recommend that the city government file a case against the condominium management for non-compliance with the city’s CCTV ordinance.
