THE DEPARTMENT of Justice (DOJ) has dismissed a complaint filed by former President Rodrigo Duterte challenging the legality of the police raid on the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City.
The raid, conducted last September, targeted KOJC leader Apollo Quiboloy in connection with qualified human trafficking and other charges. The DOJ stated that the police acted lawfully during the operation and rejected the complaints submitted by the former president.
In a joint resolution dated May 13, Davao City Acting City Prosecutor Angelica Laygo-Francisco stated, “Absent any overt act that constitutes an element of the crimes charged, and in the absence of malice, unlawful intent, or personal participation, this office finds that no probable cause exists to warrant the indictment of the respondents.”
This decision effectively clears the police personnel involved in the operation of any wrongdoing as alleged by Duterte.
Former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is also the mayor-elect of Davao City, is currently detained at The Hague, Netherlands.
His complaint against the police operation had drawn significant attention given his close ties to Quiboloy and his past public statements regarding the KOJC leader. The dismissal of the complaint marks another development in the ongoing legal saga surrounding Pastor Quiboloy and the investigations into his activities.
