Deped to launch ‘Dabawenyo Dciplinado’ program on July 19

THE DEPARTMENT of Education (DepEd) Davao City intends to launch the “Dabawenyo DCiplinado” program on July 19.

Reynante Solitario, DepEd Davao City Schools Division superintendent, told TIMES on Tuesday that the program will be integrated into the basic education curriculum for Academic Year 2024-2025.

“We are launching the program on or before July 19 with a MOA signing. Currently, module reproduction is underway,” Solitario said.

City Ordinance No. 0552 or Dabawenyo Dciplinado for the Future Generation was passed on July 9. Under Section 8 of the ordinance, the city government shall allocate necessary funds for the implementation through a Special Education Fund (SEF) from the Local School Board.

The modules’ reproduction, training, and seminars for educators will be sourced from the SEF.

Module writers will undergo a write-shop to ensure the learning materials are learner-ready.

However, Councilor Jonard Dayap said on Tuesday that the program has yet to receive funding even as the school year 2024-2025 draws near.

“We are still working out a corresponding resolution for the budget to fund the program,” Dayap said during Aprubado sa Konseho on Tuesday. “Maybe in a few days or a few weeks now, we will pass the resolution.”

All public schools in the city will integrate Dabaweny Dciplinado in the DepEd subjects, including Values Education, Araling Panlipunan, Makabayan, and Good Manners and Right Conduct.

However, for the pilot year, the module will be taught to Grade 6 and Grade 10 learners. DepEd Davao City logged  56,000 learners for both grade levels.

For the A.Y. 2024-2025, all classes will begin on July 29, 2024, and end on April 15, 2025.
