Dental, medical outreach benefit 300 quake victims

More than 300 residents of Barangay Malasila, Makilala, North Cotabato benefited from the medical and dental mission dubbed “Pamaskong Handog,” initiated by the 1003rd Infantry Brigade for quake victims on Dec. 1.

Col. Nolasco Mempin, the 1003rd Infantry Brigade commander, said the activity benefitted 194 patients who received free medical consultation and treatment; 104 patients who got their teeth extracted or checked.

Meanwhile, more than 100 children were given free food and toys.

The evacuees was entertained by the 89th IB mascot and Kiwanis dancers.

The Medical outreach sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of Golden Tagum, Hamog Dabaw, Litreracy Southern Mindanao Davao, Matahum Davao, Metro Davao Inc, Mt. Apo, Greater Davao 2000, Greater Davao Agila; Davao Durian Eagles Club; and the Barangay officials of Malasila.

Melvin Fortajada, chairman of said barangay, thanked the soldiers, government agencies, and private sector for the outreach mission.

“Christmas spirit is already in the air and this is the unit’s simple way of sharing our blessings with our fellow Filipinos who are in the evacuation centers due to recent earthquake,” he said.
