  • E-bike driver killed in crash vs. SUV along R. Castillo Street

A 39-YEAR-OLD e-bike driver was killed and his two passengers injured in a road crash involving a luxury SUV along R. Castillo Street, Agdao, around 2:45 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025.

The police only identified the e-bike driver as alias Hermilo.

Initial investigation by the Davao City Police Office’s Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU-DCPO) revealed that a Toyota Land Cruiser, driven by a 23-year-old man identified as Chen from Cagayan de Oro City, rear-ended the e-bike.

The impact sent the e-bike approximately 30 meters forward while the Land Cruiser subsequently crashed into an electric post.

Hermilo and his two passengers, alias Keye, 24, and alias Vince, 21, both Davao City residents, were treated at the scene by 911 paramedics and transported to Southern Philippines Medical Center.

However, the driver later died from his injuries while the two passengers are now out of danger.

Chen is in police custody facing a case for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and property damage. Both vehicles have been impounded while an investigation is ongoing.
