TO FURTHER promote career growth and opportunities for nurses, the Davao Doctors Hospital (DDH) inked a partnership with Shearwater Health, a global employer and petitioner of nurses in the USA, on July 26, 2023.
Dr. Mirasol Tiu, DDH chief operating officer, said the deal was meaningful in terms of sharing and caring for each other’s interests, especially to prepare nurses for internships and migration to other countries.
“As DDH, we understand our role. We will serve as a training hub for these nurses and Shearwater to provide an opportunity for our nurses in order to work abroad, and indeed, migration,” Tiu said.
Tiu said clinical nurses from Shearwater Health can pursue back-to-bedside experience through intensive training and exposure at the Davao Doctors Hospital.
The contract includes a nurse referral program such as the Managed Migration Program and Externship Program, designed for nurses willing to work and learn experiences in the hospital for a minimum of three years.
Anshum Sinha, Shearwater Health chief operating officer said the healthcare provider will cover the petition for local nurses to work abroad. The company will provide them with opportunities to gain work experience.
“This gives us a unique blend of providing opportunity and employment for nurses while they’re in the Philippines, and then their aspirations to go to the US. We will provide that platform so that we could fulfill their ambitions and dreams of going to the US,” Sinha said.
Sinha also emphasized some of the benefits of the program such as the 100% Immigration Petition Sponsorship, Free National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Review and Exam Sponsorship, free training and seminars, up to 500 US dollars processing incentive, and an arrival bonus of 1,500 US dollars.
DDH division head of nursing service Karina Santos, Shearwater Health manager Docefil Torio, and hospital executives were also present at the signing ceremony.
Shearwater Health is a US-based healthcare provider that has been in the Philippines for more than 48 years. The company is known for recruiting the highest-quality medical personnel and aims to improve healthcare outcomes globally.
