THE DAVAO CITY Water District (DCWD) on Wednesday, May 14, urged the public to be on alert against fixers claiming to speed up new service connections.
In a press forum, DCWD spokesperson JC Duhaylungsod said fixer services are unnecessary since new applicants can now open accounts with its 500-peso installment program.
The remaining P5,500 of the original P6,000 service connection fee can be spread over 11 months, or P500 paid monthly.
“Kanang ilang gina-promise nga mapadali ang proseso for a fee, dili gyud na tinuod. In fact, gipadali na pa gyud ang pagbayad sa new service connection pinaagi sa pag-offer ug installment na 500 pesos, pwede na ka maka-konekta sa DCWD,” said Duhaylungsod.
Reports of individuals and groups demanding extra charges surfaced as DCWD ramped up new connections in District 2, where bulk water supply is allocated.
Duhaylungsod also warned of possible spikes in water meter thefts as enrollment season looms.
While incidents dropped following security partnerships and collaboration with junk shops, she said cases could rise again.
“Water meter theft is a seasonal thing. So, padulong na pud ang enrolment. Atoang gina-anticipate na magsugod na pud ni sila kay pang-enrol, pang-gasto sa new school year,” she added.
In the same forum, DCWD assured residents that the supply remains stable despite increased demand, with reserves reportedly double the demand.
