THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) remains committed to serving the public despite facing challenges, including potential administrative charges against over 100 officers for alleged blotter manipulation and the relief of 19 station commanders.
DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon stated that while she cannot comment on the ongoing matter, the DCPO, under Colonel Hansel Marantan, will continue to provide quality service to the community.
She emphasized the importance of public and local government support, particularly from Mayor Sebastian Duterte, in maintaining the force’s strength during this difficult period.
Tuazon further stated, “The challenges the Davao City Police Office is facing will also show how strong the Davao police personnel are.”
Additionally, Police Regional Office (PRO) XI regional director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III expressed openness to public feedback regarding the peace and order situation in Davao City.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas forum, Torre acknowledged that the public’s experiences are the ultimate measure of the city’s safety.
Torre also clarified that his actions, while potentially controversial, are aimed at addressing problems and improving the city’s security against crime.
On Tuesday, Mayor Sebastian Duterte lauded the DCPO as the city also ranked 1st among all the city and provincial offices of the Police Regional Office XI in the Unit Performance Evaluation Rating in CY 2023.
“This is why Davao City has been successful ever since we understand each other in obeying the law, discipline is important, and a sense of responsibility,” he added.
