THE CITY police director issued a directive to strictly enforce Ordinance 060-02 banning firecrackers and pyrotechnics.
Colonel Hansel Marantan said the directive aims to protect the community from the dangers posed by these illegal explosive devices.
“Davao City remains steadfast in its commitment to public safety and environmental preservation by strictly enforcing the ordinance, which prohibits the use, sale, and distribution of firecrackers and pyrotechnics,” he said.
He said the ordinance ensures a peaceful celebration of holidays and special events, safeguarding residents from firecracker-related injuries and reducing environmental risks.
Violators of City Ordinance 060-02 will face the following penalties:
- First Offense – A fine of ₱1,000 or imprisonment of 20 to 30 days.
- Second Offense – A fine of ₱3,000 or imprisonment of one to three months.
- Third Offense – A fine of ₱5,000 or imprisonment of three to six months.
The DCPO called on all residents to support and uphold this firecracker ban.
“For 22 years, this long-standing tradition has been instrumental in maintaining peace, safety, and well-being within the community,” he said. “Let us work together to ensure a joyous and injury-free holiday season for everyone.”
