IN COMMEMORATION of Women’s Month 2025, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) conducted a two-day capacity-building seminar for Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) investigators from March 26-27, 2025.

The seminar, held at Sandigan Hall, DCPO Main Building, focused on Preliminary Investigation and Inquest Proceedings (DC15), Case Build-Up (DC20) related to Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act) and Republic Act 8353 (Anti-Rape Law), and the preparation of Judicial Affidavits.

Fifty-seven WCPD personnel from the 19 police stations under DCPO participated in the event.

Recognizing the critical role of WCPD investigators in handling sensitive cases involving women and children, the seminar aimed to enhance their legal and procedural knowledge.

This ensures the proper handling of investigations and case documentation, as these officers are frontline responders in addressing violence against women and children, making their expertise in case build-up and legal proceedings crucial for securing justice for victims.

The event featured welcome remarks from PCOL Hansel M. Marantan, Acting City Director, and presentations from distinguished guests, including RTC Judge Marie Estrellita S. Tolentino-Rojas, vice executive judge and co-convenor of the Davao City Justice Zone;  MTCC Judge Branch 4 Catherine G. Barrion, and PROLECCCS coordinator; and Atty. Ralph Mendoza, assistant regional director of Napolcom XI.

The Office of the City Prosecutor of Davao City provided the expert lectures.

Marantan said, “This initiative underscores DCPO’s commitment to strengthening its investigators’ capabilities through continuous training and collaboration with the Davao City Justice Zone (DCJZ).”

“By equipping WCPD personnel with enhanced legal proficiency and investigative skills, the DCPO aims to ensure cases involving women and children are handled with diligence, compassion, and legal integrity, contributing to a safer and more just community,” Marantan added.
