DCPO: Dike collapses due to flash flood, one rescued in Calinan

THE CONCRETE dike along the Talomo River in Alcantara, Davao City, collapsed on Sunday afternoon due to heavy rain and a flash flood.

The incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. on June 30, the police said.

Wilfredo Jambo, 48, a resident of Purok 6 Nable, Barangay Calinan, was swept away by the floodwaters but was later rescued by residents in Purok 1, Balite.

Following the incident, the Calinan police activated a search and rescue team at Kalye Apike Bridge along the Wangan River Dike.

Led by Captain Dante Espejon and supervised by Major Alberto Abella, the team monitored the area and advised residents on the riverbank to evacuate to Wangan Elementary School as a precaution.
