DCPO: Crackdown on nuisance motorcycles, traffic violations nets P2.3-M in fines

THE DAVAO City Police Office’s Traffic Enforcement Unit (DCPO-TEU) conducted a week-long crackdown on traffic violations, collecting over P2.3 million in fines from April 7 to 13 from bora-bora (modified mufflers) and violations.

DCPO chief Col Richard P. Bad-ang said 20 citations were issued on modified mufflers, resulting in P85,000 in fines (P10,000 CTC, P75,000 TOP).CTC (Certificate of Temporary Custody) and TOP (Temporary Operator’s Permit).

For Republic  Act 4136 (Land Transportation and Traffic Code) violations there are 410 operations conducted, 260 TOPs issued, and P718,616 collected in fines.

In the Local Ordinance Enforcement, C.O. 0334-12 (Traffic Code) there are 598 operations conducted, 2,339 citations issued, and P1,159,500 collected in fines.

Meanwhile, operatives collected 303,000 in fines for City Ordinance 0270-23 (Speed Limit).

For the no helmet policy, operating teams issued 598 citations and collected P74,000 in fines, while P33,500 in fines were collected on 598 citations for the no plate policy.

Overall, the DCPO collected P2,373,616 in fines from traffic violators.

Bad-ang directed the DCPO-TEU and the different police stations to intensify operations to ensure safer roads for motorists and pedestrians. He emphasized issuing TOPs and citations to hold violators accountable and promote traffic law compliance. The DCPO continues to urge all motorists to respect and follow traffic regulations.
