NEARLY P2 million in fines were collected by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) as it continues to strengthen its operation against bora-bora (modified mufflers) motorcycles and other traffic violations.

DCPO chief Col Alberto Lupaz said they generated a total of P1,706,799 from apprehended violators as of Oct. 14.

The police collected P41,700 from the 63 issued CTC/TOP citations and P45,000 for temporary operator’s permits (TOPs) for bora-bora motorcycles.

Also, the DCPO launched 385 operations in connection to RA 4136 where officers issued 213 TOPs and collected a total of P438,499 in fines.

The biggest total amount involved violations of C.O 0334-12 or the Comprehensive Transport and Traffic Code of Davao City. From the total 757 operations, the DCPO issued 2,516 citation tickets and generated P1,181,600 from the fines.

“This has significantly contributed to creating a safer and more orderly environment for the residents of Davao City,” the city police director said.
