DCPO: Assault claims by ‘bishop’ against three homosexuals false

THE DAVAO City Police Office belied a Facebook post by a supposed “Bishop” from Zamboanga claiming to be ignored by police when he reported an assault incident at the San Pedro Police Station.

According to a complaint by alias Mark, the alleged bishop claimed he sought police assistance after being extorted by ten members of LGBTQ while checking into Humbertos Hotel along Palma Gil Street in Davao City on Oct. 9.

He even stated that he was punched and kicked by one of them.

However, the investigation by the DCPO revealed that the bishop was lying.

CCTV footage from the hotel showed three alleged homosexuals going up to the second floor where Mark was checked in. After some moments, one of the homosexuals exited and went down to the lobby with Mark.

The police said the footage showing them knocking on his door contradicted Demeri’s claims of being assaulted.

Demeris also questioned why police did not act on his complaint and raised concerns about safety in Davao City.

According to DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon, police immediately visited the hotel after Mark reported the incident even though he just wanted to file a blotter and had no plans to pursue charges.

Tuazon added that Mark himself said there was no need for police involvement, but they still went on to investigate.

DCPO’s statement

On Oct. 10, 2024, Mr. Mark Dimeris posted on his social media account, alleging that Police Station 2 (PS2) – San Pedro failed to provide him with adequate assistance.

In response to these allegations, PS2 would like to address the concerns raised by the complainant.

When he arrived at the station, he was immediately assisted by the police auxiliary, who gathered initial information.

He was then directed to proceed to the desk officer. After recording the details of the report, the complainant was asked if he intended to file charges against the alleged perpetrators. However, he only wanted to have the incident documented. The desk officer then presented the draft blotter for his review and approval.

“We would also like to clarify that the version of the blotter posted by the complainant is not the official extract,” the statement said. “Nevertheless, our patrollers were dispatched to the location of the incident, even though the complainant opted not to pursue legal action,” it said.

“We are currently updating the appropriate authorities regarding the results of our investigation into this matter, to ensure accuracy and transparency,” it added.
