DCPO: 88 individuals arrested in week-long crime crackdown

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has announced a successful week of crime prevention efforts, resulting in the arrest of 88 individuals and the seizure of illegal drugs, firearms, and gambling money.

City police chief Col. Hansel M. Marantan said they conducted a series of targeted operations from Dec. 29, 2024, to Jan. 4, 2025, focusing on illegal drugs, gambling, wanted persons, and loose firearms.

In the fight against illegal drugs, the DCPO carried out 27 operations, leading to the arrest of 32 individuals and the confiscation of nearly 80 grams of shabu (methamphetamine) worth over ₱543,687.20 and 27.714 grams of marijuana worth over ₱3,325.68.

Anti-gambling operations resulted in the arrest of 18 individuals and the seizure of ₱3,975 in bet money. Five cases have been filed against those involved in illegal gambling activities.

The DCPO also prioritized the apprehension of wanted persons, conducting 35 operations that led to the arrest of 35 individuals, including 13 most wanted individuals.

Efforts to curb the proliferation of loose firearms resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of three illegal firearms. 

Additionally, 15 firearms were recovered through various means, including voluntary surrender and police operations.

The DCPO expressed gratitude to barangay officials, community members, and the Local Government Unit for their ongoing support in these successful operations.  “Let us continue working together for a sound and safer community.” the DCPO statement said.
