DCOTT gears up for Kadayawan tourist influx

THE DAVAO City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) is gearing up to cater to the influx of tourists during the Kadayawan Festival.

DCOTT manager Aisa Usop said on Friday that bus trips on regular days average 700-800 daily, equivalent to 35,000 passengers.

However for Kadayawan, the number is expected to rise to an average of 1,000-1,500 bus trips daily, that is 50,000-75,000 passengers.

“I am expecting nga mas daghan ta og pasahero tungod pud sa expectation sa city tourism nga daghang tourists nga moanhi,” Usop said in an interview with Ronda DCDR

She reminded the riding public to arrive on time so as not to be left behind, as intervals between trips may not be followed during peak days.

The normal interval between bus trips from the terminal is about 30 minutes.

Pag makita nako nga mapuno na ang bus, bahalag wala pa nakaabot 30 minutes, pa byahe na dayon ang bus para mabalik dayon,” she said.

She added passengers may opt to buy tickets online to reserve a seat for convenience. However, charges may vary compared to buying the ticket in the terminal.

They may check the trip schedule at the online ticketing system at www.bookaway.com.

Picking up passengers along the highway is still prohibited.

“Once masakpan ang mga drivers, labi na sa national police enforcers, dako na og tulubagon,” she said.

Bus drivers are reminded to adhere to the seating capacity per vehicle to avoid passengers standing.

The manager said they are in constant coordination with other transport terminals outside the city to follow terminal-to-terminal policy and secure riding public.

The City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) targets to register at least 250,000 local and international visitors for the month-long celebration of the 2024 Kadayawan Festival.
