DavNor town tells curfew violators to guard caskets

The local government unit of Santo Tomas in Davao del Norte has upped the ante in imposing THE curfew hours to stop the spread of COVID-19 by placing two caskets in recreational gymnasium for violators.

Mart Sambalud, the municipal information officer, said the caskets are a stark reminder of what awaits them if they continue to defy the government order.

“If the public keeps on violating our protocols on COVID-19, death is imminent for all of us, ” Sambalud said. “Some find it funny while others see it as a serious move of the LGU to innovate our campaign.”

On Sunday night, three individuals were caught by authorities for violating the curfew and liquor ban. They were told to watch over the caskets overnight.

“Everyone is afraid of dying,” he said. “This strategy is a stark reminder that death is just on the brink if the public will not cooperate with the protocols and measures that we implement,” the information officer said.

Sambalud said the violators will do it all throughout the curfew hours until 5 a.m. Since March 19, there are already 312 curfew and liquor ban violators who were apprehended in their municipality.
