POWER utility firm Davao Light and Power Co. (DavLight) commits to the Department of Social Welfare and Development to continue the lifeline subsidy program covering 4Ps beneficiaries.
During the Kapihan sa PIA forum at NCCC-Victoria Plaza Mall on June 14, DavLight Reputation Enhancement head Fermin P. Edillon said poor families will benefit from the subsidy program, which helps ease the pressure on their monthly household budgets.
“Naa man gud ni siya’y mga subsidy or mga diskuwento na makuha depende saimohang konsumo, so as high as 100% na discount sa konsumo makuha nato kung mag-enroll lang ta sa ginatawag nato na lifeline rate subsidy,” he said.
As of June 13, the program has 3,184 enrolled applicants, with 3,073 identified as 4Ps beneficiaries.
“Intended man gud ni siya sa mga 4Ps and marginalized sector. But though majority ani sailaha mas dali ipa-enroll are those na naa sa listahan sa DSWD,” he said.
He said the lifeline subsidy program is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to give back to the community.
Nevertheless, Fermillon said they also rely on their revenues, part of which will fund the program. They also rely on the DSWD XI for identifying the intended beneficiaries.
“Being a private sector, dili man pud mi charitable institution. dili pud mi expert sa mga social development work. But naa mi ma-pondo kay usa sa tunong sa mga private sector, pati sa Davao Light, is really to ensure na maka-tabang pud mi sa growth kung asa mi naga-operate,” he said.
He said they have no fixed target number on who can enroll in the lifeline subsidy program. Fermillon advised those interested in applying for the program to approach the nearest DSWD office to fill out a form and submit the other requirements, which include proof of billing.
