THE DAVAO Startup Week 2024 features 17 pre-events and 5 main events with around 30 organizations to highlight the growing prominence in the startup ecosystem of the region from Sept. 19 to 29.
During Wednesday’s Habi at Kape on Sept. 11, Davao Startup Week 2024 convener Candice Lleses highlighted that the startup week aims to gather people and share ideas, provide coverage for startups in Mindanao, and a platform to showcase business ideas to potential investors, collaborators, mentors, others.
Four main event tracks include a learning session track, ideation track, showcase track, and networking track.
Lleses added that the goal is also to involve young people in the startup scene to connect with mentors, and gather and polish their innovative ideas that can help the economic growth in Davao City and the rest of Mindanao.
She hopes to double the target number of participants for Davao Startup Week 2024 of 5,000 compared to the previous 2,500 participants. She noted that around 70% participants of in startup weeks are students and young entrepreneurs.
“We hope that we are able to reach a lot more Mindanaoans this time compared to last year,” She said.
Davao Startup Week 2024 in its 3rd edition is organized by IDEAS Davao, Upgrade Innolab, the City Government of Davao, and the Department of Science and Technology.
Upcoming events with different venues for the month of September include Techstars Startup Weekend: Space, Mindanao Incubator Summit, Davao Investors’ Mixer, Davao Startup Champion Awards Night, and many others.
