DAVAO City Police Office director Col Hansel Marantan directed law enforcers to protect the vote and the people to ensure a safe electoral process on May 12, 2025.
On Monday, May 5, Marantan led a comprehensive inspection of the DCPO’s elite units—including the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), City Explosives and Canine Unit (CECU), and the 1st and 2nd City Mobile Force Companies.
The activity was conducted around 4:50 p.m. at the DCPO parade grounds along San Pedro Street.
Marantan said the inspection was more than a routine drill. It was a strategic initiative to evaluate the operational readiness, tactical efficiency, and rapid response capabilities of DCPO personnel in preparation for the National and Local Elections 2025.
Marantan added that the exercise aimed to ensure that DCPO remains fully capable of responding swiftly and decisively to any security threat that may arise before, during, or after the elections.
With an unwavering dedication to public safety, each unit showcased discipline, coordination, and preparedness—core elements in safeguarding the democratic process, preventing disruptions, and protecting the rights of every voter.
“Isang beses sa bawat tatlong taon, ang ating mga kababayan ay maririnig. Hayaan natin na ang kanilang boses ay manaig (Once every three years, our countrymen will be heard. Let their voices prevail),” he said.
These words echo the heart of the mission—more than a show of strength, the inspection is a firm reassurance to the people of Davao City: your police force is ready, vigilant, and fully committed to upholding peace and order so that you may cast your vote freely, safely, and without fear.
As election day approaches, DCPO stands as a steadfast guardian of democracy, ensuring that every Davaoeño can exercise their sacred right to vote with confidence and security.
“Through discipline, integrity, and unwavering resolve, our officers embody the true spirit of public service—protecting your voice, your choice, and your future,” the city police director further said.
“As we prepare for the upcoming National and Local Elections, I call on all personnel—especially our elite units: SWAT, the City Explosives and Canine Unit (CECU), and the 1st and 2nd City Mobile Force Companies—to remain vigilant, disciplined, and mission-focused at all times,” Marantan said in his message.
“The task ahead of us is crucial. We are not just securing polling centers—we are protecting democracy and defending the rights of every Davaoeño to vote freely, safely, and without fear. Your presence on the ground serves as a shield against any form of violence or disruption. Never let your guard down,” he added.
“Refrain from using cellular phones while on duty. Your undivided attention is needed. One moment of distraction could compromise the security of the area you are assigned to protect. Stay alert. Stay focused,” he said.
