Davao City police arrest 122 in week-long anti-crime sweep

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) reported significant accomplishments in its fight against crime during the week of March 2-8, 2025, with the arrest of 122 individuals.

Acting city director PCOL Hansel Marantan said the individuals were arrested in various police operations targeting illegal drugs, gambling, wanted persons, and loose firearms.

The DCPO conducted 32 anti-illegal drug operations, leading to the arrest of 38 individuals involved in drug-related activities.  Authorities seized a substantial amount of illegal drugs, including 260.2 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P1,769,360 and 3.32 grams of marijuana worth P398.40.

Intensified efforts against illegal gambling resulted in the apprehension of 23 gamblers in 21 separate operations. Police confiscated P6,610 in bet money and filed 21 cases against those involved.

The DCPO also focused on capturing wanted individuals, conducting 54 operations that led to the arrest of 54 people.  This included 20 most wanted persons and 34 others facing various charges.

Meanwhile, in 18 operations targeting loose firearms, the DCPO apprehended seven individuals and seized eight unlicensed guns.  

Additionally, four firearms were surrendered to authorities, and eight were turned in for safekeeping under “Oplan Katok.” Seven cases related to illegal firearms were filed in court.

The DCPO acknowledged the vital role of community support in its successful operations, extending gratitude to barangay officials, community members, and the Local Government Unit.

“These accomplishments highlight the DCPO’s dedication to enforcing the law while respecting human rights and adhering to police operational procedures,” the DCPO stated.
