A new company that is venturing into aquaculture is joining the call to become part of the “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-asa (BPBP)” program as it is putting up its operations in Davao del Sur.
In a press statement from the Mindanao Development Authority Monday, Secretary Emmanuel Pinol said the company, Fintech Aqua Ventures Corp., informed Gov. Douglas Cagas that it would hire about 200 returning to the province through the program, a brainchild of Sen. Christopher Lawrence Go.
He added that the president of the company, Butch Cordura, said it will establish a 90-hectare white shrimp production farm and 70 fish cages in Hagonoy and Sulop.
“In a separate call to Hagonoy Mayor Franco Calida, Cordura said his group would also look into financing the establishment of the “Balik Probinsya, Bagong Pag-Asa” Resettlement Village for the returning urban dwellers who will work with the company, ” Pinol said.
The press statement quoted Cordura as saying that it will seek the help of theHome Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) for the financing of the housing project for the workers who will be paying back the loan on a longer term.
“This is our support to the program of President (Rody) Duterte and Sen. (Bong) Go to decongest Metro Manila and create employment opportunities in the countryside,” Cordura said.
The agency said the resettlement village will be the fourth to be established with MinDA as the agency facilitating it, but the first model with the private sector becoming the lead.
