THE COMMISSION on Elections (Comelec) has issued a resolution limiting the number of people allowed to accompany a candidate during the filing of their certificate of candidacy (COC).
According to Atty. Gay Enumerables, assistant regional director, the Comelec Resolution No. 11045 restricts the number of companions to three per candidate.
Enumerables explained that this measure aims to prevent the typically “fiesta-like” atmosphere during candidates of the candidacy filing, often characterized by a large influx of supporters, ahead of the 2025 National and Local Elections.
The resolution also sets the period for candidate substitution from October 1 to 8, prohibiting any further substitutions except in cases of death or disqualification.
Enumerables also urged the public to register with Comelec before the deadline on September 20.
Comelec’s satellite registration continues across various areas in the Davao Region to facilitate processing and registration, as well as transferring or deactivating records.
