THE COAST Guard District Southeastern Mindanao will conduct an oil spill simulation exercise on July 4-5.
During the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps media briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Coast Guard Station Davao City operations chief Ensign Ronaldo Garcia said the exercise will involve other government agencies and private groups.
According to Garcia, the exercise aims to demonstrate that the responsibility of resolving oil spills does not lie solely with the Coast Guard but with everyone.
“This is because oil spills can affect everyone if they occur in any coastal area of the country,” He added.
Garcia further said the exercise aims to test the responsiveness of various stakeholders in responding to tier-one oil spill incidents in line with the launching of Task Force Ingat Yamang Dagat.
