THE COAST Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSEM), through its station on Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS), rescued two individuals who fell overboard from a passenger vessel on Labor Day, May 1.
The individuals, whose names are withheld, were reportedly under the influence of alcohol.
According to reports from responders, the two individuals went overboard from the passenger vessel MB Puting Bato around 7:48 pm while navigating from Babak, Igacos to Davao City.
Alerted by the Port of Km. 11 checkers, Coast Guard personnel from Km. 11 and crew members from the vessel launched a search and rescue operation.
The two individuals were successfully rescued around 8:00 PM.
The CGDSEM reminds everyone to prioritize safety and responsible behavior, especially while on board vessels. “This incident highlights the dangers of alcohol consumption in potentially hazardous environments,” the statement said.
