COCKPIT operators in this city are urged to set up a unified application system to avoid facing a penalty.
This is part of the amended ordinance of the Cockfighting Code of the city that was passed by Councilor Jessica Bonguyan, chair of the Committee of Games and Amusement of the City Council, assisted by Councilor Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz, chair of the Committee of Finance.
Included in the order signed by Mayor Sebastian Duterte urging all cockfighting operators in the city to create a system so they can continue their operations.
This step will ensure transparency, especially the entry of people into the cockfighting arena. The City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) will also monitor the income and personnel assigned to the cockfighting arenas.
Bonguyan further revealed that the system would help to increase the city’s revenue.
It should be remembered that four existing cockpit arenas operate in this city, consisting of the new Davao Matina Gallera, RB Fours Complex Cockpit Arena in Ilang, Buhangin Cockpit Arena and Calinan Cockpit Arena.
The official also learned that the four existing cockpits in the city have an automated system set up.
It also warned cockpit operators who fail to comply that they could face a P5,000 fine and at least one-week imprisonment.
