THE CITY government is hiring health workers for deployment to seven more vaccination sites as officials aim to fast-track the inoculation of Davaoeños against COVID-19 in the coming months.

Mayor Sara Duterte in her weekly radio program over the Davao City Disaster Radio said the more vaccinated individuals means that there are fewer people who will experience “severe and critical cases,” and hospitals will be less likely to be overwhelmed with patients.

The City Human Resource and Management Office (HRMO) is expediting the search for more personnel for the seven additional vaccination sites.

Based on the data of the vaccination cluster as of Aug, 14, a total of 453,424 Davaoeños already received their first dose, while a total of 297,201 already had their second doses.

Besides the city government-run vaccination sites, the city also collaborated with various sectors for sectoral vaccination. It has also tapped other local government officials to help in the mobile vaccination drive.

Earlier, COVID-19 Task Force spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser mentioned that the vaccination cluster has expanded its priority sectors to civic and social organizations sector. This is on top of the recently added religious sector.

The city government targets to inoculate 1.2 million Davaoeños for the first dose by November.
