IN A BID to win Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance, the Special Office for Children’s Concern (SOCC) intensified monitoring of each department’s protection services and enforcement.
Gerlyn V. Arciaga, SOCC officer-in-charge said the office aims to surpass the 80% rating for the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) 2025.
To note, the city government acquired a high score during the 2024 CFLGA with 90.55%, which surpassed the 80% passing rate.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government-Davao City lauded the city government in a letter on January 23, 2025, as the score in the latest audit makes it eligible to get a Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance.
“Ginapaningkamotan namo para makuha ang exact, pero so far makapasa man tayo. This year’s assessment is 80%, and to pass the CFLGA 2025, we must have at least 64 points,” Arciaga said.
The SCFLG is a recognition given to LGUs that have met the minimum requirements for the five key indicators: Survival, Development, Protection, Participation, and Governance.
Arciaga said for 2025 they will focus on the governance indicator, specifically the maximum utilization of funds for the programs for children.
The City Information Technology Center developed in 2024 the children’s database for efficient monitoring of the status of programs and the total number of beneficiaries, which will be tested in March.
The office will also focus on lobbying for more city ordinances that will ensure the protection of children and promote advocacy on child mental health and against child abuse.
At present, the creation of the Home for Girls to shelter minors rescued from the streets is underway.
