City remains safe despite minor security breach during IRONMAN

Acting Davao City Police Office Director Col. Hansel Marantan expressed confidence in the city’s security measures following the recent IRONMAN 70.3 event, despite a minor security breach. He confirmed that the woman who disrupted the bike course was arrested and charged.

Marantan noted that only two of the eight focus crimes were committed during the event, indicating a generally safe and secure environment. The police chief also expressed optimism about the upcoming Kadayawan parade on August 16th and assured the public that they are prepared, having conducted a reassessment and collaborated effectively with allied forces within the security cluster.

Overall, Marantan emphasized the city’s safety and the police’s commitment to ensuring the security of both residents and visitors, especially during major events like the Kadayawan festival.

Mayor Sebastian Duterte expressed his gratitude to all the participants of the recently concluded Ironman 70.3 Triathlon race. This marks the fourth time that Davao City has hosted this prestigious athletic event.

The mayor stated that no major incidents or casualties were reported during the Ironman event. He also thanked the organizers, security cluster, local government offices involved in making the event possible, and all Dabawenyos who supported the event. The mayor encouraged everyone to prioritize their health through a healthy and active lifestyle.
