THE CITY College of Davao, which opens in August for the academic period 2023-2024, will begin accepting applications from indigent and deserving students for its pioneer batch.
Wenefredo Cagape, City College of Davao OIC-president, said during the I-Speak Media Forum on June 29 that residents of Davao City would be able to avail of free tuition at the CCD.
“Magpasalamat ta kay Mayor Baste Duterte, gi-subsidize sa local government ang tuition fee sa mga bata wala’y bayaran maski singko centavos (We should thank Mayor Baste Duterte, the local government subsidized the tuition fee and the students do not have to pay even five centavos),” he said.
Cagape said that the city government allotted more or less P60 million for the salaries and wages of personnel and the school’s MOOE.
“Kadtong poorest among the poor kadtong mga bata sa mga ginikanan dili kapaiskwela sa ilang mga anak sa mga affordable nga universities and colleges (Those who are the poorest of the poor those children whose parents cannot support them to go to affordable universities and colleges),” he said.
The CCD offers the following courses: Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education major in Heating, Ventilation, Airconditioning and Refrigeration Technology, Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education Major in Computer Programming and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship.
Cagape said that they would limit the first batch of students to 320 because of the availability of the classrooms and staff. He said the hiring of teachers is already completed, and the classrooms have all been prepared for the start of the school year.
The on-site application for the new enrollees will be from July 2-July 14, 2023.
