The Davao City government has advised the public to be wary of road closures that may cause inconvenience during the observance of Holy Week.
It is also calling on them of their reponsibility to throw their garbage properly.
This as the city is expecting thousands of Catholics to flock in churches for the Holy Week activities especially the Way of the Cross and Visita Iglesia when vehicle traffic increases.
The City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) said there will be road closures along worship places.
“Since Monday, the road along San Pedro Cathedral and the Sangguniang Panlungsod were closed for the construction of the equipment for the “‘Sugat’ on Sunday,” Abude said.
He said some roads in Shrine Hills, Matina – within GSIS Subdivision – will also be closed on Friday, April 19, for the reenactment of the Way of the Cross.
“Beginning 3 am on Friday, Mars, Apollo and Pluto Streets will be closed until 8 or 9 pm to give way for individual groups’ Way of the Cross,” Abude said.
He said the CTTMO will deploy a total of 995 personnel for the Lenten observance, especialy on April 19, 20 and 21.
Meanwhile, Dolly Remojo, acting assistant head of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), has reminded churchgoers to throw their garbage properly.
“We need to be responsible in throwing our garbage because if we want to be responsible Christians, we must also respect the environment,” Remojo said.
