The identity of the woman whose dismembered body parts were found in Buhangin is still unknown as the girl who was initially identified as the victim has shown up.
This developed as another set of chopped up human parts, believed to be parts of the unknown victim, was found yesterday near the Buhangin Flyover.
Police are still facing a blank wall on the case as they could not also trace from CCTV footage they reviewed any individual who threw the garbage bag that contained the body parts found by garbage collectors on Sunday.
Sr. Insp Maria Theresita Gaspan, the spokesperson of Davao City Police Office (DCPO), said the chopped up victim is not the 31-year-old blind-mute, Margie Albarico, a resident of Matina Pangi, Talomo District.
On Monday, Margie’s father, Sopriano Maturan Albarico, 68, “positively” identified the body as that of his daughter, who was missing on Thursday, three days before the body was found.
Gaspan said Margie is alive and was already turned over to her father early yesterday morning.
It turned out that Margie was found in Compostela Valley, and concerned citizens exerted effort to return her home.
On Monday, Albarico’s family was preparing to bring the body as they were raising funds for the wake.
Sopriano said the victim’s face bears a strong resemblance to his daughter.
“At this point, the victim is still unidentified,” Gaspan said.
Gaspan said they may create a special investigating task group solely to solve the case citing the case is “complicated.”
She said investigators are now coordinating with the police station in Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) where a similar “chop-chop” case was reported last month.
“If (the Samal and Buhangin cases) are of the same nature of killing, there is a possibility we can have lead,” she said.
No details were released, so far, on the Samal incident.
For now, the city police office has not received any report on missing person so there is a possibility that the victim might be from other neighboring cities and towns and could just be dumped here.
One of the initial angles they are considering in the case is the human organ trade.
Yesterday at around 11 a.m., another set of human body parts, placed inside a black garbage bag, was found at the road shoulder near the entrance gate of Northpoint Camella Homes and Buhangin Flyover in Barangay Buhangin Proper, also in Buhangin District. A piece of plywood covered the garbage bag.
The Buhangin Flyover is around four kilometers from Cabantian Road, where the first set of human body parts was found in garbage dumping area in front of a pawnshop on Sunday.
A report reaching the DCPO revealed that the Central 911 called up Buhangin Police Precinct to inform that a color black garbage bag emitting foul odor was found near the entrance of Northpoint.
Chief Insp Jack Leon Tilcag, the precinct commander of Buhangin Police Precinct, confirmed that the bag contained body parts, and might be connected to the first case.
The found body part was said to be from the middle and lower portion of the body. The victim was wearing a pair of black short pants.
A restaurant chef, identified as Julie Taguran, 43, reportedly discovered the bag after noticing the foul odor.
