THE CITY Health Office (CHO) launched a voluntary bloodletting program at Rizal Park, City Hall grounds on Wednesday, April 17.
The Department of Health XI, other local government units and barangays, Davao Blood Center, and the Philippine Red Cross also supported the program.
In an interview, Dr. Margie Rubio, acting assistant City Health Officer for operations, said they targeted to get at least 60 donors by the end of the day.
Rubio said being a blood donor needs certain health qualifications.
“As early as 16 years old, as long as naa kay parent’s consent and na-meet na nimo ang minimum weight na 50 kilos,” she added.
Rubio encouraged all Davaoeños to volunteer because aside from helping others and saving lives, their health will also benefit from regular blood donation.
“Once we donate blood, our red blood cells will reproduce,” Rubio said.
