The Governments of both Philippines and China vow to strengthen the relations between the two nations and enhance friendly relations in areas such as cultural education platforms.
In his speech at the opening ceremony of Filipino-Chinese Second Youth Exchange Program 2019 on Tuesday at Century Park Hotel in Manila, Fujian provincial foreign friendship association vice president Chen Chuxin said President Rodrigo Duterte and President Xi Jinping both agreed to translate the friendship of two countries during their recent meeting in Beijing.
During the meet, Chen said both leaders agreed to strengthen the “One belt, One road” initiative and “Dajian” (mass construction).
He said these measures will provide more convenience to the youth who will benefit for the programs.
Ke Zhichao, the president of the Philippine-Chinese Federation of Industry and Commerce, said that with the continuous improvement of the Philippines-Chinese relationship, the event is intended to provide more support for the youth of China and Philippines and to deepen the friendly relations in areas such as cultural education.
Other guests during the opening included Wang Wenhui, deputy mayor of the Jinjiang Municipal People’s Government; Xu Xueyu, vice chair of the Feihua business association; Yang Huahong, chair of the Philippine federation; and Wu Yungjian, the president of Fujian youth federation Philippines.
Sixty exchange delegations from Philippine government and representatives of the Chinese community witnessed the program.
During the first-day tour in Manila, the delegates visited the China embassy in the Philippines followed by a courtesy call at the city government of Manila, educational tour at the University of Sto. Tomas and at the Philippine Airlines Training Center where students underwent a discussion with officials of the Philippine Airlines (PAL).
They also toured Rizal Park, Intramuros, Manila Cathedral. Also, they visited the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Association of the Philippines Foundation Inc. and Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (FFCCC). Lastly, the delegates also visited the Bahay Tsinoy or Chinese Museum in Binondo, Manila.
Among the 60 delegates, there are 10 Philippine participants, including three students of the University of Mindanao (UM) – Gail Martie Maceda (Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management), Kevin Rostem Digal (Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship), and Leonilo Gonzalez III (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering).
