THE city government is preparing P385,000 in cash prizes for the winners of the 86th Araw ng Dabaw Cheerdance Competition which will take place on March 11 at the Davao City Recreation Center.
Of the prize money, the champions will go home with P150,000 in cash, the first runner-up and the second runner-up will get P100,000 and P75,000, respectively.
Organizers of the event said the event is open to those who are at least 12 years old and who represent their school, city or organization. Each team must have between 26 and 30 in members, excluding the spotters who will assist the teams.
The judges will evaluate the teams based on five criteria: dance, tumbling, stunts, pyramids, and tosses. The teams will be judged on various aspects, including difficulty, technique, creativity, spacing, and synchronization, among others. The incorporation of Davao City elements, such as costumes and props, will also be a consideration.
