CDRRMO reports flooding incidents in nine barangays

THE CITY Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) has reported that the heavy rains on Sept. 18 submerged nine barangays due to overflowing rivers and creeks.

According to CDRRMO Training Division acting head Lyndon Ancajas, the nine barangays that were reported from September 18 to 19 are the Tugbok proper (Talomo River), Bangkas Heights (Bago Creek), 7-A, 32-D, Bucana, Matina Crossing, Matina Aplaya, Talomo Proper and Ma-a.

The flooding incidents were caused by the water level increase of Talomo River and Bago Creek, urban and street floodings where Davao City experienced light to moderate heavy rainfall of the southwest monsoon.

Ancajas clarified that there were no reports of evacuations or individuals being displaced. As of now, CDRRMO’s monitoring has observed the water levels going down to the ankle level or below the knee.

He noted that the problems are mostly caused by drainage problems and the CDRRMO is still waiting for the updates of their reports that are forwarded to the government agencies.

Barangays are advised to closely monitor their area of responsibility during heavy downpours, and report feedback to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office-Operation Center for changes in the situation.
