A COLLISION between a Sino dump truck and a Davao Metro Shuttle bus on Daang Maharlika Highway left 18 people injured around 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct 23, near Daniel Perez Elementary School in Bunawan.
According to the police report, the dump truck, driven by 51-year-old Randy A. Tampus, was traveling from Crossing Bunawan toward Tibungco.
The bus, with an unidentified driver, was heading in the opposite direction. Police believed the bus encroached into the oncoming lane, leading to a head-on collision.
At least 16 bus passengers were injured in the crash, including both drivers.
DCPO focal person Captain Hazel Tuazon on Thursday confirmed that eight passengers who sustained minor injuries were brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for treatment.
The damaged vehicles were impounded at the Bunawan Police Station for further investigation.
Moreover, police are still conducting further investigation to determine the charges to be filed.
The Davao City Police Office reminded drivers of the importance of road safety and vigilance while driving.
