Bukidnon town declares NPA persona non grata

A joint resolution was unanimously approved by the town of Malitbog in Bukidnon declaring the NPA and its legal fronts persona non grata.

The resolution was passed during the Joint Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) and Municipal Anti- Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) meeting of Malitbog at Malitbog Municipal Hall.

1Lt Lorjohn D Hernandez, the newly installed commander of the Alpha Company, updated the MPOC on the security situation of Malitbog.

He also explained the purpose of the Community Support Program (CSP) of the Philippine Army as one of the tools in addressing the issues exploited by the NPAs to recruit residents.

Likewise, 1Lt. Kenneth T. Cabbigat, political officer of 8th Infantry Battalion, also proposed the creation of a task group to end local communist armed conflict (ELCAC) of the municipality of Malitbog. It will be composed of local agencies of the town to monitor and facilitate the delivery of government services.

“We need to form this Task Group because the government has many programs only that they can’t reach the farthest barangays. Through you, we can bring these programs directly to the people,” he said.

The Philippine Army is optimistic that with all stakeholders, local government units, and government agencies working hand-in-hand, it can address the insurgency problem in remote communities.

“To the CPP-NPA terrorists who are still in the mountain ranges of Bukidnon, come down and yield to your Army,” he said. “We are your soldiers. We will help you return to your families and communities.”
