THE PHILIPPINE Navy vessel BRP Herminigildo Yurong (PG906) recently conducted a series of Civil-Military Operations (CMO) in Malalag, Davao del Sur, underscoring its dedication to community development and the strengthening of ties between the military and civilians.
Major Salvacion Evangelista, the spokesperson of Eastern Mindanao Command, said these initiatives demonstrate the unit’s commitment to going beyond its traditional duties to actively support local communities.
The efforts of PG906 extended beyond its primary mission of ensuring maritime security. Crew members collaborated closely with local port officials and residents in various projects aimed at uplifting the community.
Notably, personnel from the ship joined residents and local workers in coordinated wharf cleaning activities. Following this, the Navy team distributed refreshments and conducted food drives for the residents and workers involved in the port projects.
In a further display of support, PG906 also donated essential office supplies and trash bins to aid local governance in Malalag. These actions highlight the unit’s commitment to community engagement and corporate social responsibility as key components of boosting local development.
These acts of goodwill fostered a sense of mutual respect and cooperation among the workers, residents, port authorities, and contractors involved. This positive relationship is seen as crucial for future collaborations and mutual benefit.
