SENATOR Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go topped the senatorial race, while Senator Ronald dela Rosa is still holding on to the third position based on the partial and unofficial Magic 12 from the Commission on Elections transparency servers as of 3 p.m. on May 13, 2025.
Go said he and other allies of the Duterte family were at a disadvantage in this midterm election.
“To be honest, this was challenging for us. Our situation was different during the administration in 2019. We worked on our own, we don’t have a stage. We are the ones helping each other in our motorcades and stages in our sorties,” he told GMA News in an interview.
Go thanked God, his supporters, and former President Rodrigo Duterte for his victory.
“Unang-una, maraming, maraming salamat po sa Panginoon, kay Allah. Pangalawa po, sa ating sambayang Pilipinong patuloy pong nagtitiwala. At, of course, kay dating Pangulong Duterte na naging mentor ko po sa pagseserbisyo,” Go said.
The lawmaker from Davao City recalled the former President’s advice to just do what is right and prioritize the interest of the country and people.
Go has consistently placed at the top of the senatorial race, reflecting widespread support for his legislative record. He has earned the monicker, “Mr. Malasakit,” for his brainchild “Malasakit Center,” which has been institutionalized with the enactment of Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act, which he principally authored and sponsored.
Go vowed that public service would remain his utmost priority in the next six years.
“Hindi ko po sasayangin ang tiwala na binigay ninyo sa akin. Pagmamalasakit at more serbisyo po ang puwede kong ialay sa ating mga kababayan,” Go underscored.
Go had cast his vote in Lupon, Davao Oriental, where he affirmed the crucial role of the electorate in nation-building.
In his social media post on Tuesday Senator Ronald Dela Rosa posted “Baka masyado pang maaga pero ako po’y taus pusong nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng mga nagtitiwala sa akin. Hindi ko po kayo bibiguin. Sagot ko kayo, itaga nyo sa Bato!”
