Body of missing boy found

POLICE discovered the body of a 17-year-old boy floating in Bankerohan River at Purok 1, Barangay 1-A, on March 9 in the afternoon.

The police report said that Eduardo Acaso Lungay Jr., a barangay tanod and a resident of the area, noticed the body and reported it to authorities. Investigation revealed that the, a resident of Amakan in Barangay Cabantian,  had jumped into the Davao River at dawn of March 8 and was reported missing.

Major Marvin Hugos, San Pedro Police Station chief, said the boy was one of five minors who jumped into the Davao River after spotting law enforcers approaching them in response to a report of minors inhaling solvents under the Bankerohan bridge. The other three minors were rescued and returned to their parents, while one escaped.

The three minors-two boys and a girl-are residents of Barayco. When the police arrived at the scene, they found a partially opened bottle of wine, cellophane, and a plastic bottle containing a volatile substance.

Central 911 immediately conducted a rescue operation, and the three minors were referred to the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD)
