Bishop gunning for mayor vows for a true change in Davao

BISHOP Rodolfo “Rod” A. Cubos is the first to challenge the Duterte supremacy by filing his candidacy for mayor on Saturday, Oct. 5, affirming that he has the potential to defeat seasoned politicians.

Cubos will run under the Love Philippines Movement (Independent).

“I have served as a bishop, as a servant of God, and as a leader. In our faith and community, we provide true service to the Davaoeños,” he told reporters in an interview on the sidelines of his candidacy filing.

“The LPM is active across the country, not just in Davao City. We started our movement even before the pandemic with our tagline: ‘Loving God, Loving People, Loving Our Nation.'”

Former President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday night announced that he’s running for mayor again, a position he held for two decades.

“There is a need for true service, and the Davaoeños deserve it. I am a businessman and a former CEO of BPO companies, but I have seen many people left behind. This is one reason I ask for your support—people are calling for real change, and while it may seem impossible to compete against seasoned politicians, I believe we can succeed,” he added.

Also, Rhodora S. Barcena, of the Love Philippines Movement (Independent), filed her candidacy for vice mayor of the city.

Janeth J. Jabines, a social worker from Barangay Bucana 76-A, also filed her candidacy as Congresswoman for the city’s 1st District under the Love Philippines Movement (LPM) around 10:48 a.m.

When asked for his comments on Bishop Cubos running for Mayor, Former President Rodrigo Duterte said, “Sana manalo siya” (I hope he will win).
