THE BUREAU of Fire Protection (BFP) reported a safe and incident-free election day in Davao City, thanks to the early safety inspections and strategic deployment of personnel across polling precincts.

FInsp. Russell Jake Marañon said the BFP deployed personnel across polling precincts as part of their proactive safety measures. These included the First Aid Service Team (FAST), which was stationed in schools where people cast their votes.

Ang Bureau of Fire Protection, nag deploy kita ug mga personahe nato sa mga polling precinct diri sa Davao City. Adunay sad kitay ginatawag nga FAST or First Aid Service Team, naka-deploy sad na siya sa atong mga eskwelahan kung asa moboto atong mga katawhan,” said Marañon during the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps Forum last May 14.

A month before the elections, the BFP had already begun inspecting all polling centers within its area of responsibility to ensure safety and preparedness.

“Prior pa ana sa pag deploy nato sa D-Day, nag conduct na ta one month before the election pa. Aduna na kita gi-conduct nga pag inspection sa mga nakalista nga mga polling precinct. Nag libot kita within AOR nato diri sa Davao City gi-check nato para ma ensure nato,” he added.

Marañon also reported that only minor health concerns were recorded. “Sa atong namang FAST, First Aid Service Team. Naa kitay na monitor nga mga minor lang ga report nga nagadto didto sa atong staging area sa FAST nato nga mga dizziness lang, exhaustion.”

Overall, the BFP noted a smooth and peaceful election in Davao City, with no major incidents related to fire or other emergencies and their thorough preparations and swift response contributed to the peaceful conduct of the elections.
