Baste: Strict building permit application compliance for a future-proof city

MAYOR Sebastian Duterte told business owners who wish to apply for building permits must follow the regulations to be future-proof. 

Duterte shared during his 2nd State of the City Address on Tuesday, that building permit applications have been one of the talked about issues during his administration.

Daghang negosyante, labi na sa middle to upper class, medyo mo reklamo sila,  ang akong gipangayo nila compliance lang man,” he said. 

The mayor clarified he had not been interfering with the processes and had not ordered shut any business, provided they followed the regulations set. 

He stressed some business owners and developers do not acknowledge their lapses. 

“The city is rapidly growing and a lot of people are coming in, mausab ang landscape kung di nato siya i-prepare, ma future proof for developments to come in, mas maglisod ang mga tao og lihok diri sa atong syudad,” he added. 

The mayor reiterated to new applicants to comply with the building permit guidelines for the welfare of the citizens.

Para naa pay maagian ang mga tao magbaktas,  lu-ag atong lugar ug hapsay,  di ko gusto moapil ko og daot sa atong lugar,” he said. 

Duterte reported in his SOCA that building permit applications can now be done online through the Online Building-Related Permit System (OBPS).

Through the new system, the Annual Inspection Fee collection increased to P17,090,425.50 in 2023, compared to P6, 615, 290.40 in 2022.
