Baste hits admin for ‘political intimidation’

by Rhoda Grace Saron

MAYOR Sebastian “Baste” Duterte called on Filipinos, especially Davaoeños, to continue fighting for the next generation amid what he described as the country’s downward spiral courtesy of its national leaders.

Duterte insisted that the focus of President Marcos’ administration is the impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte because she is seen as a real threat in the upcoming 2028 elections.

“What kind of future do you want for these kids? A worse one than the one that we have now or a better one? So, we have to fight. Kahit gaano sila kalaki, makapangyarihan. Nasa kanila ang lahat ng pera. Tinatakot nila ang lahat. Kinukulong nila ang lahat. Hindi tayo titigil hangga’t hindi tayo nauubos, ” Duterte said during the PDP Laban convention held in Davao City on Saturday, July 25.

“Look now in the unitary system of government, what is happening to us? We are paying our taxes. Saan napupunta ang mga buwis natin? Instead of opening up the Blue Ribbon Committee on flood control kung saan nawawala ang trillion nating pera, ano ang priority ng administration ngayon? Yung impeachment ng vice president because we all know kung hindi nila matanggal ang vice president ngayon, hindi nila mailagay ang presidente nila in the 2028 elections, ” he added.

“I want you to know that I am only here as an instrument. So much has already happened. What is one of the core objectives of PDP-Laban? It is federalism. We have to remember this because we believe that under a federal system of government, we will be able to govern ourselves and chart the direction of our own country,” Mayor Duterte said.

Meanwhile, the administration has yet to respond to the Mayor’s statement.
